Herndon

Herndon was originally a dairy farm hub back when the Washington and Old Dominion Railroad (W&OD) was in full force. The area of Herndon and the Town of Herndon was named after Commander William L. Herndon, an American naval explorer.

The Town of Herndon is home to a lot of beautiful historic homes, and part of the W&OD Hike & Bike trail, which is on the old footprint of the railroad. Herndon is part of the Dulles Technology Corridor. The Town has Friday Night Live! [free concerts May-August], a four day Herndon Festival in June, July 4th celebrations and fireworks, and the Labor Day Jazz Festival in September.
