Sterling, VA Homes
Sterling started out as a farming community prior to the 1960’s, and when Dulles International Airport made its way into the area, Sterling started to boom. Along came Marvin Brohill and U.S. Steel in the 1960’s to build affordable single family homes in what is now called Sterling Park. Sterling Park has an annual SterlingFest, which is held on the 2nd Saturday in October. Located in Sterling is Northern Virginia Community College, which has a growing campus located on Route #7.
Also in Sterling is Claude Moore Park, which offers activities for people of all age groups, plus a large modern recreation center. Here’s a bit of history: Vestal’s Gap Road runs across the park, which was a major route between Alexandria and the Shenandoah Valley. Notably, George Washington and Daniel Boone used this road frequently. U.S. President James Buchanan had his summer home near what is now Ruritan Circle in Sterling.
